What is a B-match?
Matches are not for AKC points (shows are for AKC points). The judges at the matches are normally not AKC judges. B-matches are the best way to practice showing your dog. If you’re interested in showing your dog and don’t know what to or how to go about it, the B-match is for you and your dog. There will be a number of dogs at the match so your dog will get used to being around other dogs in a “show” environment. The judge does a hand on exam of your dog, and you and your dog get to compete against other dogs and owners at the match. Sometimes the judge will critique you and/or your dog and sometimes give you some good suggestions. The dress is casual. Don’t worry where you place or how you finish in the match because it is all about you and your dog gaining experience and confidence in the show environment. The biggest thing is to go in, get experience and most of all, HAVE FUN.
The pictures below are from the 2014 and 2015 B-Matches. As you can see, it is lots of fun and the dogs love it.
